DAVID J. SKAL is one of the world’s leading historians of horror and the macabre, his many books including HALLOWEEN: THE HISTORY OF AMERICA’S DARKEST HOLIDAY; HOLLYWOOD GOTHIC, THE MONSTER SHOW, V IS FOR VAMPIRE, and an eagerly awaited new biography of Bram Stoker, SOMETHING IN THE BLOOD, to be published by Liveright in October. As a filmmaker, he has written, produced, and directed a dozen DVD and Blu-ray documentaries on Universal Studios’ classic horror and science fiction films, as well as a behind the scenes chronicle of the Academy Award-winning film GODS AND MONSTERS. He has lectured at dozens of colleges, universities, and cultural institutions in the United States, Canada, and Europe, and taught courses based on his books at Trinity College Dublin and the University of Victoria.
